2012 Honors and Awards literature, catalogue, and advertising

The 2012 AIA Honors and Awards program was announced with a save-the-date piece that featured two distinctive graphic elements: a silkscreend UV varnish in the shape of the AIA Medal of Honor, and a topographic visual language composed of planes that were inspired by the bas relief form of the medal. The latter, printed in a tinted spot varnish, was carried throughout all program materials. It was consistently mixed with a series of interesting paper stocks (rubberized blue paper, cast-coated paper with an ultra gloss and ultra matte side, and finally a dull coated paper). Typography reflected the status and endurance of the honors, blending centered, all caps, serif type with more modern cues.
